Fountain of Life School is a Christian school in the village of Juan Tomas, Dominican Republic.  Classes start at Preschool and go through grade 12, with 446 students enrolled.  The school employs over 40 staff, from teachers to teacher aides, from facilities crew to administrators. Teachers are a vital part of the school community providing students with an exceptional Christian education.  Spiritual growth is a cornerstone of Fountain of Life's mission. Education changes lives. A Christian education changes lives for eternity.

The school campus is divided by the red dirt road that leads to the village center. Classrooms for educating children pre-school to grade 6 sit on one side of the road, behind a marine blue cinder block wall, and on the other side of the narrow lane behind a gated fence, are classrooms for grades 7-12, including a brand new two-story upper-grade building toward the rear of the property. 

It is a busy, thriving school. The school starts at 7:30 am with children arriving by all modes of transportation- trucks, minivans, motorbikes, horses, and by foot. Each day begins with the Dominican National Anthem, song, and prayer. School closes at 1:30 PM to accommodate family needs.

Children who attend the school can receive sponsorship for their tuition from generous donors like you.  Each sponsor pays for half of the full tuition costs for each student to attend Fountain of Life School from August to May. Half of the tuition is approximately $384 American Dollars. The student's family pays the other half.  For parents who cannot afford to pay, work-study and additional scholarships are available. 

As a sponsor, you are encouraged to correspond with your student at least twice in a full year.  Encouraging notes about the start of school, the end of the school year, and special educational days are inspiring to the students. You;ll learn a lot about their motivation to learn and about the culture in the Dominican through this exchange.

End-of-the-year reports on student achievement are sent to you as a sponsor, so you will know how your student is doing, more effectively praying for their needs and praising God for their growth!

As in the U.S., tuition often does not cover all of the costs a teacher incurs in educating his or her classroom. This is why we have established a number of campaigns to encourage the arts, technology, and family ministry. Especially difficult is appropriate accommodations for Special Education services. Growing in number each year, as the population of the school increases, we have set up a Special Education Fund to address the short-term needs as Fountain of Life redefines strategy on delivering such educational programming.
